Can't Get This Out Of My Head

I was just vacating the living room last week as that programme began and have been unable to get this out of my head ever since. May god rain down a shower of shite on the heads of all involved. The tune and more especially snatches of this video have been popping into my head at the most inopportune moments, ie at all.

I post this and made myself watch the video in an attempt to exorcise this afront to good taste from my being.

Dance Classics #2

While we're doing this kind of thing, how about Zoe and her Number 1 smash from 1991- Sunshine On A Rainy Day which makes her soul trip, trip, trip awaaaaayyyy. Love this, despite myself. It sounds like it took about twenty minutes to record. Also she pioneered the revolutionary wearing one of those 'body' garments with low slung jeans so the hips were displayed (although I couldn't find a picture showing this). Dance classic and fashion warrior- Zoe, this blog salutes you, while continuing to decline.

Truly, Truly Awful But I Love It

Well, this blog seems to be in need of a miracle, as it seems to be not so much in decline, but deceased,  a dead blog if you will.

Here is a terrible, terrible song which I can not help to love and try to sing along to even though the only words I know in Spanih are si and cerveza.

What do you mean it's in English?

Is this blog already declining?

                                                                     [The REAL Sturdy Girl!]

It is, dear middle-aged friends, not an easy task to find a really shitty song , preferably  about alcohol, and sung by sturdy girls …. as this is what this blog is supposed to stand for amongst other things, at least as I understood it.  Then again an awful song by some middle-aged drinkers about sturdy girls would do the job as well, preferably to be listened to along with a glass of cheap booze for yerself.
Well, you’ll get ‘em both friends, so, wherever you are, think back of 1988, where all of us still were pretty as a picture, enjoy and raise your drinks to:

Salt ‘n’ Pepa – ‘Twist And Shout’ (mp3):
I can’t think of a worse rape of the ole’ Isley Brothers favourite than this. And don’t the girls look REALLY sturdy? Goes along nicely with some spicy Margarita!

Happy Mondays – ‘Fat Lady Wrestlers’ (mp3):
I can’t think of a worse drinker than Shaun Ryder out of The Happy Mondays. The tune itself is not that bad, sorry, but it seems to sum up this blog’s attitude rather well, therefore it’s in.  A beer or two would be good!

This first post is dedicated to the Real Sturdy Girl, as pictured above. Wherever you may be possibly be these days: Cheers, I will always love you, honey! Also to the Sturdy Girl Cycling Club of Philadelphia and, of course, to anonymous: personally I couldn't do worse than this, mate, but I'm sure this blog will decline even further!
Cheers,
Dirk
